Archibald Orchards & Estate Winery Ltd.
“We’re rooted in the trees”
Archibald Orchards & Estate Winery is located in the picturesque foot hills of the Oak Ridges Moraine. Recognizing that the property was a perfect site for growing apples, our family purchased the 4 – 10 acre lots in 1967. The following year, a small orchard with 2 varieties was planted. Today, the orchard boasts over 12,000 dwarf trees with 12 varieties ranging from Ontario’s own McIntosh (1811) to the ever popular Honey Crisp & Ambrosia. Come fall, this place is bustling with apple picking, cider pressing, fresh baked pies, and kiddies’ play area… lots of activities to harvest great memories & enjoy “country fresh”!
Although the orchard came first, Archibald’s Estate Winery has become an important part of our family farm. Making wine from fresh pressed cider was one of Fred’s hobbies for a dozen years before the winery opened in 1997. The original wine list included 8 fruit wines. Today the list offers 19 wine & cider selections ranging from dry & off dry table wines to dessert wines. We also make a range of Sparkling non-alcoholic ciders. All of these products are made using our own tree picked apples, as well as other Ontario fruit – everything but grapes! From picking & pressing to fermenting & bottling, everything happens right here under the watchful eye of Fred, the wine maker & grower. He has a passion for making fruit wine, stemming back to growing up in Niagara’s Fruit Belt. We invite you to stop in for Complimentary Tasting!
